…You don't realize how much you miss something like Stamey's till you move away from it.
Plus I am getting married soon and I need to find out if my bride to be is truly the one and if she doesn't like Stamey's Pork and red slaw it may just break all bargains. After growing up in Greensboro, leaving only to attend college in Raleigh and then graduate school in Massachusetts, Stamey's is one of the places that I must absolutely go to everytime I return home. Mom's cooking will always be my first culinary love, but Stamey's is the second taste that I always associate with home. Whenever friends from out-of-town come to visit me, this is one of the first places I take them to. (08/25/03)
I LOVE YOUR BAR B QUE!!! Moved to Charlotte 8 yrs. ago after living in G'boro for over 30 yrs. Must say, there is NO place like yours here!!! Why oh why don't you have a Stamey's only 1 1/2 hrs away???? PLEEEEEEZEEE consider opening here!!! (2/09/2002)
I ate at Stamey's about two years ago and LOVED it. I was living in Auburn, AL at the time and was able to eat decent BarBQ whenever I wanted. Now I live in Texas and cannot seem to find a BarBQ place I like. The sauce just isn't the same. Is there any way I can order some of your sauce? PLEASE!?! I'm dying for some good barbq!(1/06/2002) Stamey's is as good as ever. I grew up in Greensboro, but have lived in Texas for years. I passed through GSO recently and was pleased to find your restaurant just as I remembered. There's nothing like NC barbecue! (11/30/2002)
Please tell me I can order online soon! I was born and raised in Lexington, but now I'm in New Mexico. I have yet to find good bbq here. And don't even SAY barbecue slaw! LOL No one knows what that is! They think I'm crazy to rave so much about something I can't have. So....hook me up! You would be surprised how many people are loyal to NC BBQ and would pay to have it shipped! I'd be waiting in line the night before! PLEASE ship!(11/28/2002)
Whenever I am in Greensboro I try to eat at the best BBQ place I have found, Stameys. What is the chance of having a place in Roxboro, NC.? What would it take to look our way? (11/13/2002)
I am originally from Greensboro and have lived in Florida for 11 years. Everytime I come home for Christmas...I have to go to Stameys. This time,my mother came to visit me and actually froze the barbecue and kept the slaw cold to bring on the plane for me because I crave it so much. I hate to sound "obsessed" about it but everyone has fallen in love with "Stameys". We thought it would be great if you shipped. We would give you great business down here. If you do ship,PLEASE let me know. I don't want to wait until Christmas. haha. Thank You, A. Anthony (10/18/2002)
I lived in Greensboro for 10 yrs, and have been in New Jersey for the last 17. Stamey's was a staple when I lived there...Nothin' beats a pile of your barbecue sandwiches, slaw & hush puppies. I'll be back in Greensboro for a visit next month, and one of my first stops is gonna be a trip to Stamey's to fill up on the barbecue I've missed so much. If you ever DO branch out & open stores outside of Greensboro, a store up her in Jersey would become a 2nd home for many folks who've been transplanted up here over the years! (8/14/2002)
I live in New Jersey and LOVE your BBQ! We have NO good BBQ up here in the north. Do you ship your frozen BBQ - I would be very interested in this. THANK YOU! (6/23/2002)
I have contacted you before and hope to hear that you are in the works for an online store with FedEx delivery of your barbeque! I read your feedback file and I see that I am not alone! I truly hope that an online store will become a reality. Look what Krispy Kreme has done! You have a wonderful product that so many of us 'relocated' tarheels want!! Good luck to you and I will continue to hope that one day I can order it online! Thanks! (6/18/01)
in 1970 I moved from the Greensboro area to Kingsport TN...my birthplace. At first, there were lots of things I missed about living in Greensboro. Now, after 31+ yrs in Kingsport, the only thing I truly still miss is STAMEY'S!!!! Oh, if East Tn only knew you don't smother barbequed pork in a thick sweet tomato sauce! Ugh. Never have adjusted to it and never will Been spoiled by Stamey's! On a few occasions various family members (including myself) have traveled to Greensboro (one day trip) specifically to buy over $100 of barbeque, slaw and hushpuppies and bring back to each family household. It is a true family celebration when that traveler returns home. Do you ever ship? (12/08/01)
Born & bred in Greensboro, for many years I have lived near Tampa, Florida. While Florida has it's fabulous citrus, strawberries and vegetables year round. Life just isn't the same without STAMEY's! There is no match for your wonderful bbq, slaw & hushpuppies; not to mention the fries, brunswick stew, hot dogs & cobbler. I think an "Online Store" would be the most wonderful thing possible. Just "sign me up!" Everytime family or friends come for a visit, I always get them to go by Stamey's on their way out of town with "cooler in hand" to bring me some of your fantastic barbeque! Thanks for the memories of going to Coliseum events with my family in the 60's, which always meant we got to go and eat at Stamey's first. It's always been a treat!(11/21/01)
I grew up in Greensboro and now live in New Orleans and while the food is great here there is NOT ANY real barbeque. The first thing I do when I get home (which is not often) is head to Stamey's. When I flew home in July to go to the beach with my parents my flight arrived late. I drove straight to Stamey's Battleground and got there at 8:58 and begged them to serve me which they did. I wish you would deliver next day Fed Ex, I'd order every week. Have you ever thought about a nice Stamey's on St. Charles Ave?(9/24/01)
Just a note from a NC native who has been in Oklahoma City for 20 years, but left Greensboro after graduating UNCG in 1973. I loved discovering your website, and have told these Texans and Okies that they just don't know what they are missing if they haven't had NC BBQ. Beef is ok, but pork is great! It's too bad there is not a way to mail order your BBQ. I still remember eating at the High Point Rd store while a college student, and have sung your praises ever since. I never get back east, but the memories are fabulous. Thanks, and so glad to know you are still serving up food to many loyal customers who also sing your praises.(9/21/01)
Is there any way you can cater an event in Washington DC? We love your B-B-Q!(9/10/01)
I have been visiting your stores in NC for the past 20 years, I wish you would open a location in New Jersey. We sure could use some of your great, good for you food in New Jersey. Take a look at Cracker Barrel, they were only in the south and now have four stores in New Jersey doing well and upholding it's great southern heritage. Keep up the good work, Sam Piro, New Jersey(9/02/01)I just got back from visiting my parents in Greensboro and not once but twice we went out during my four day visit to Stameys for some Barbecue and Hush Puppies. While I have now lived in Atlanta 16 years and in Richmond for 5 years I have found nothing to match your style of Barbecue. I loyally go to your place as part of my pilgrimage home to Greensboro several times a year. It is safe to say I have been dining with you folks, off and on, for 44 years and can remember your old location well. If you can stay in business another 44 years you got me covered (I would then be about 94). Thanks for being the best at cooking what I like so darn well. A North Carolinian forever and at heart trapped in Georgia. (7/03/01)
I was born in New Bern, NC, and moved to Iowa when I was still young. Every time our family would return to North Carolina, dad always made sure to take us to Stamey's. Now I find myself living in Arizona, but scheduled for a business trip to Raleigh next week. You can bet your bottom dollar that I'll be making the drive to Greensboro for those hush puppies, that slaw, and of course, that barbecue. I've been fortunate enough to travel extensively, and there's no better barbecue out there. Keep it up! (7/03/01)
We have traveled the U.S. (mostly east of the Mississippi) for many years and have never found an equal to Stamey's. We even reroute our trips sometimes just to stop at your place and of course we recommend it to everyone we know that is traveling in the Greensboro area. However my son was very disappointed to find you were closed on Sunday, because he wanted to introduce his new bride to Stamey's (they were on their honeymoon. Hopefully he will have the pleasure in the future. Keep up the good work. (5/26/01)
Good Afternoon, Hope your day is going great. Just wanted to drop a note to let you know your business at both locations has excellent service, although my favorite is High Point Rd. I have been eating with you guys since way back when------you could just pull up in your car, place your order and Joe would come running out to bring you meal. That was the good old days! Your cobblers are very good, however I have really missed the apple and strawberry. Can't really decide which is best. I usually just order the peach as cherry isn't a favorite of mine. Also, I am very glad you brought back the ice cream to your menu. Sure makes the cobbler more enjoyable. Have a great day and keep up the good work!(5/3/01)
"I love eating at you place and I thought you may like to hear that others do"
In the wake of Charlotte's 3-0 sweep of Miami in the NBA playoffs, a new arena deal magically was agreed upon. That's great for the Hornets and for Charlotte, which will get to keep their first big-time team. But the linked story indicates that the capacity for the new arena will be between 16,500 and 18,000 for most events. The ACC hasn't commented on this yet, but it would seem highly unlikely that they'll take the ACC basketball tournament to a place with a capacity that small. It says "maximum capacity" would be 20,000, and even that seems a little small. After all, we just got back from 40,000-seat Atlanta. We don't know what the future of the current Charlotte Coliseum is, but if they get rid of it, Charlotte would seem to be without a venue capable of hosting the event. That's a shame in some ways but not in others. If Greensboro becomes a more frequent destination, then we'll get to eat Stamey's BBQ more often. (5/1/01)I just want you to know how much we miss your barbecue. My husband and I lived in Greensboro for 18 years and 10 years ago we moved to the state of Texas. We have never found any decent barbecue here at all. I miss those hush puppies and that Cole slaw will never be duplicated. It was and is still great I am sure. Sure wish there was some place here in Texas that could come even come close to your barbecue. I wish you had a place here.
I hope everyone around there appreciates good barbecue because it is so hard doing without it. If we ever make it back home we will come to Greensboro and pig out on your barbecue and then we will hit the Friendly Road inn for their delicious seafood. Oh how we miss North Carolina. Please enjoy a sandwich for me.
We will retire back to Virginia in a couple of years and we so look forward to your barbecue. So from us in Texas who knows what we're missing to you guys in Greensboro we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
A Virginian in Texas.(4/25/01)Have you thought about expanding to other areas like Myrtle Beach, SC. There is only one "long term" bbq place here and the locals think it is good, but it is nothing compared to yours. I lived in Greensboro for 30 years before moving to Myrtle Beach and would love to see Stamey's BBQ and hush puppies come to the coast. On every visit there, I always make a trip to come and eat at your restaurant.(3/12/01)
Just wanted to let you know that I love Stamey's Barbecue... I live in Raleigh and I'm sure that if a location was opened here it would be quite profitable considering the crowds I've seen at your Greensboro locations. You guys make the best barbecue around... keep up the good work! (2/20/01)
I live in Orlando, FL, but am from Greensboro, NC. I have lived down here for about 3 years. I miss Stamey's food and all the people. I just want you to know I wish there was a Stamey's down here. No one serves hushpuppies down here at all! I miss your cobblers, your fries, your barbecue, and your hot dogs... ...will be back to visit someday. I miss you guys! I came there when it was a drive-in and the Greensboro Coliseum was the best thing around!(1/22/01)
I just went back home to visit and have missed the BBQ of Stamey's for a long time. We stopped and had a wonderful meal while home we are in Fl now can you tell us what is in your hot sauce so we can make it here for our selves we love it with our BBQ. I know our own will never be as good as Stamey's but until I get home again it would have to do. thanks 1/15/01)
I love the barbecue! Stamey's brings back special memories of my years in High School. Whenever our school would participate in the NCMEA All-State Chorus, our Chorus Director, who was from Burlington, would always take us to Stamey's at least once during the trip to eat. I have since graduated, and now attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Whenever my family comes out to visit me at college (From Murphy - that's 300 miles!) we eat at Stamey's. Thanks for great food and good times.(11/06/00)
Dear Sirs, I stopped by your restaurant this past weekend and was truly, very impressed with the taste and quality of your sliced barbecue and sauce. I'm not a barbecue expert but I have been to a few BBQ restaurants throughout NC. Your BBQ tops the list of best BBQ's. Your BBQ will supersede anything that Lexington can serve. (I was disappointed when I went to Lexington last year for BBQ, Also GSO is closer to Chapel Hill than Lexington. ). Keep up the good work. I'll have to make more trips to Greensboro for Stamey's BBQ. Ted (Chapel Hill)
PS. My son(13) stated that" I never knew pork could taste this good!" (11/04/00)The best barbeque I have ever had. The food quality and service is excellent. I tell all my friends. You have a customer for life! (9/24/00)
I was in your store about three months ago on business in the area and I just want to say that you guys have the best BBQ that I have ever tasted. Actually I brought back about 5 pounds to my home in Florida. (8/23/00)
